One character that the fans anticipated to do a cameo is X-Men’s Magneto, especially after Patrick Stewart’s unexpected return as Professor X. Although we didn’t spot any easter eggs linked to Magneto aside from Savage Land, thankfully, a Marvel producer recently verified that the renowned comic book character’s inclusion was almost a possibility.
Marvel Studios’ producer Richie Palmer finally breaks his silence on Magneto’s potential inclusion in the recent MCU milestone Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Palmer admitted that Magneto’s inclusion was brought up in the discussion but was “not seriously talked about.““I don’t know if that was ever seriously talked about, again, that [Michael] Waldron’s got a head full of crazy ideas, so, I’m not going to say those things never came up in conversation, but I think once you start getting into Magneto and explaining Mutants, you know, I think that the Illuminati appearances in this movie are pretty self-explanatory,” Palmer told Empire Podcast. “I think you get them and you know… I think it’s all right there for you. To go any further with it, and to try to explain that stuff, might’ve detracted from the experience. However, who’s to say in this universe, that’s a different Wanda than our Wanda with a different backstory, there is a Professor Xavier there, there are Mutants, there are Inhumans. So, you got to believe she definitely has her own version of that story going on.“In Marvel Comics, Wanda Maximoff’s father is originally Magneto. That is why when Doctor Strange 2 was announced to be Phase 4’s biggest crossover film, fans instantly envisioned that one of them would be the X-Men villain.
Aside from that, now that Patrick Stewart’s Professor X has returned to the mega-franchise, it would totally make sense that his arch-nemesis would also come back.Nonetheless, Marvel Studios has already confirmed that the X-Men is finally under development. With the Multiverse as the current plot focus for Phase 4, which enables former actors to possibly return to the franchise, Ian McKellen’s Magneto’s comeback can still happen in the future.Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now available to stream on Disney+.Also read: Thor: Love and Thunder Preview Night Remains No Match Against Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
