Originally, Wotakoi was a Japanese web manga series by Fujita. It was first published in 2014 on Pixiv. It was then serialized in Comic Pool in 2015 before the manga was published in print the same year.
Will Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku Ever Get a Season 2?
There are no announcements yet from A-1 Pictures regarding a potential Season 2. It has been four years since Season 1 ended, and with the ongoing pandemic, it might take time before an opportunity presents itself if A-1 Pictures or any studio decides to produce the sequel. As for the content, Season 1 of Wotakoi covered the first four volumes of the manga, which leaves Volumes 5 to 8 to be adapted, if ever. But if we were to speculate, fans of the romcom series should not entirely lose hope. If the demand continues to remain high, there might be a chance for a studio to create a sequel. In the meantime, interested anime viewers can read the manga to find out how the story ends.
Is Wotakoi Worth Watching?
Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is worth watching for fans of the romantic comedy genre and anime fans in general. What makes the story interesting is that both characters are otakus, which can be relatable to a lot of anime fans. The anime follows Narumi, an office lady who hides her fascination for yaoi. She changed her job and was reunited with her childhood friend, Hirotaka, who is an attractive guy and a hardcore gaming otaku. The two of them decided to date, but they experience some awkward moments because of their hobbies. The series is set in an office and considering that they are otakus, a lot of popular manga, games, and anime are mentioned throughout the series. The anime can be considered a slice of life as well since their lives are featured along the way.
