When Agent Mobius was making Loki talk and quite pressing him on various issues, he brought up his favorite escape of Loki as DB Cooper which takes us back to the ‘70s with Loki looking like a fine rich man aboard a luxurious plane. A stewardess approaches him and addresses him as Mr. Cooper, and Loki slides a paper to her. Just as she was walking away, Loki warned her to look at the paper and that he is carrying a bomb. It seems that the God of Mischief had hijacked the plane. While on air, Loki jumps out carrying tons of cash in a suitcase and praying to Heimdall that his timing is right. He gets zapped mid-air through the Bifrost.

Who is DB Cooper in Loki?

To start, DB Cooper was real, like a real-life person, adapted into the canon series and it turns out, everyone’s favorite trickster took his persona and shapeshifted into being him. The real-life DB Cooper is known as a businessman who simply brought an airline ticket under the name of Dan Cooper. The press called him DB Cooper though, quite a miscommunication. He would be traveling from Portland going to Seattle and just like in Loki, he slid a note to the flight attendant after asking for bourbon and soda. The flight attendant thought Cooper was flirting with her and he said that she should look at the note and that he was carrying a bomb then showed her red cylinders with wires and batteries. He then asked the flight attendant for $200,000, four parachutes, and a fuel truck upon his arrival at the Seattle-Tacoma airport. What makes it more disturbing was how calm and polite he was when demanding. When he got what he wanted, he released the passengers of the plane which headed to Mexico City. After that, he jumped off the plane, never to be seen again. The FBI spent four and a half decades looking for him and they only found traces of the money amounting to $5800 floating in Columbia River, Oregon. Still, there were no traces of DB Cooper or the rest of the money. It was a clever addition to the Loki series though, a bit of reality injected in the story mixed with an adventure of the God of Mischief. As for Loki being DB Cooper, we all know where he went: back to Asgard after he lost a bet to Thor and Heimdall. All episodes of Loki Season 1 are available to stream on Disney+.
