The report revealed that the studio is considering moving the release dates of both Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom although it is unknown yet if it ends up being official. Warner Bros. Discovery will have its earnings call today where they’re expected to make some announcements about their assets and projects.

There is no reason stated why Warner Bros. might delay the release date of the two aforementioned films. There are speculations that the Shazam sequel’s move might be due to avoiding competing with Avatar: The Way of Water, which is expected to be a huge box office success like the first film.

If Shazam! Fury of the Gods delays its release date, it is likely that it will move to Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’s current March 2023 date which would mean that it may have to move to The Flash’s summer 2023 date, whose fate is still unknown as the studio is navigating its star Ezra Miller’s controversies.

As Warner Bros. is navigating the future of the DCEU under the new leadership, we should be hearing more news and updates about their upcoming projects and whether some of them will still continue or not.

In the case of the two films, one thing for sure is that they will not get canceled and will continue with their theatrical release considering that their respective first films were a success.
