However, according to Rolling Stone, one of the projects that Warner Bros. is not expected to move forward with is the Supergirl movie starring Sasha Calle, who is making her debut as the hero in next year’s The Flash. The project is currently in development as part of the DCEU’s upcoming slate with no known director and writer attached.
Right now, it is unknown yet whether the studio’s reported decision will become official. There is a chance that we will find out about it in today’s Warner Bros. Discovery’s earnings call where they are expected to make announcements surrounding their assets and their studios’ projects.
While we don’t know yet how far was the studio in the development of the project, it is still unfortunate to hear that the Supergirl movie might no longer be in the works. It’s also hard to tell what kind of direction they were going to take with the film since we won’t be able to see Calle’s performance as the heroine until at least next year.
There is a chance that this is not the last of the series of big decisions that Warner Bros. is going to make surrounding their upcoming DCEU projects. We should be hearing more news and updates about the franchise in the coming days and weeks due to the recent merger of the parent company.
