Thankfully, in a recent interview, Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi revealed why the Guardians of the Galaxy were only present at the opening of the film.“The plan was always to have them in the beginning and then move on. Because they have their own movie,” Waititi told Insider. “There was talk about having them come back at the end.““The thing is that happens in every movie,” the director continued. “No more. No more of the cavalry coming at the end. So we shelved that idea. We just wanted Jane to come in at the end.“It’s totally understandable for Marvel Studios and Waititi to feature the Guardians of the Galaxy as side characters for the film. It’s a Thor film, and it must highlight Thor-related characters like Korg, Valkyrie, and Jane Foster —which the film triumphantly accomplished. For fans who anticipated a more significant adventure for the Guardians, the wait won’t be far too long for the next Guardians of the Galaxy solo film. The fan-favorite defenders of the universe are set to return in two upcoming James Gunn projects: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 and Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special which will premiere in December 2022.
