Here’s What Happened Before The Eminence in Shadow Episode 10
In Episode 9 of The Eminence in Shadow, Sherry activates the control relic and thus manages to deactivate the Eye and its barrier. Cid arrives in Eminence’s disguise and his Shadow army starts eliminating the terrorists. To Iris, it appears that Shadow Garden is responsible for the attack, and she’s enraged. The Gaunt Knight burns Sherry’s research. But when he’s found by Cid, it’s revealed that the knight is Ruslan, Sherry’s adoptive father. Ruslan explains that he used to be a master swordsman but he got sick and was forced to stop. He now operates under the impression that the Eye might be a cure. Ruslan went so far as to start a relationship with Sherry’s mother, who was researching the Eye. When Sherry’s mother decided against continuing her research, he killed her and adopted Sherry so that he could keep benefitting from Sherry’s own research. By combining the Eye with the control relic, Ruslan gets his swordsman skills again. Cid still manages to hold his own against him, but Ruslan boasts that he has framed Shadow Garden for his own crimes. Cid kills Ruslan and the Shadow Garden is framed as a terrorist group. Now that Ruslan is dead, Sherry tells Cid that she has decided to transfer to a scientific research academy to work towards her new secret goal.
