Speaking recently with Variety, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore confirmed that Marvel Studios is developing multiple Black Panther spinoff series for Disney+ that are set in Wakanda. Ryan Coogler’s production company, Proximity Media, is also involved in the making of the projects. “This world is expansive, and there are so many great characters. Beyond what happens with this film, there are more opportunities to go back to Wakanda,” he said. The producer also added that some of the ideas will involve existing characters in the Black Panther films while some of the shows will also feature characters “that would be completely new.” When asked how many projects are actually in the works, Moore simply said, “There are no shortage of ideas, let’s put it that way.”
Marvel and Proximity Media are currently working on Ironheart, the series starring Dominique Thorne reprising the role of Riri Williams, who is introduced in Wakanda Forever. Production recently wrapped for the series and is expected to debut on Disney+ next year. It is exciting to hear that Marvel is looking to expand the nation of Wakanda even further in multiple projects. There’s no doubt that a lot of MCU fans would love to see more of the nation and stories that will center on some of the supporting characters that don’t have a lot of moments yet. We also know that they are also already developing the “untitled Wakanda series” that will star Danai Gurira reprising the role of Okoye. The project is still in the development phase as of recently according to an update. For now, let’s just wait for more details on these spinoff projects. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to release in theaters this November 11. You can check more details about it here.
