In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore discussed the possibility of Storm showing up in MCU’s Wakanda in the future just like in the comics where he also revealed that the X-Men’s arrival is still “a few years out” at this point. “Well, Storm’s relationship with Wakanda in publishing is pretty interesting. Obviously, we might be a few years out from the X-Men, so I’m not sure we’re there yet. Who else from Wakanda have we not introduced? I mean, there’s a pretty deep bench, actually,” he said. “And especially, I think, Ta-Nehisi’s run introduced a lot of key characters that would be fun to export. Even characters like Vibraxas, which are more Fantastic Four characters. But yeah, it’s a pretty deep bench. I think there’s a lot more stories to tell on Wakanda for sure.”
Based on the officially-announced slate, it looks like we won’t be getting the X-Men’s arrival in the MCU until after the release of Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026. However, they have planted seeds about the existence of mutants in the MCU with Ms. Marvel and Namor, who will appear in Wakanda Forever. In addition, Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier also appeared earlier this year in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness while Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will appear soon in Deadpool 3 which is now going to be part of the MCU. In some ways, the franchise has already introduced the mutants leading up to the X-Men’s arrival itself. While some fans might be disappointed that the mutant team’s arrival is still a few years off, at least we have an assurance that they will come into the MCU soon and it’s just a matter of how and when they will introduce them as part of the universe that is already crowded with a lot of heroes and powered beings.
