Having also been recently tapped to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Plaza continues to be unstoppable in giving more quality outputs. In an interview with GQ, the comic revealed she aspires to be the female counterpart of well-decorated filmmaker Tim Burton.
“I’m trying to fill the female Tim Burton slot,” she said, talking about what she wrote and plans to direct in her own family-friendly movie, which remains in the vault but sounds promising nonetheless.
Aside from being a versatile actress, Plaza is exploring the realms of screenwriting and filmmaking. She shared some hints on where the inspiration for her current project originated: “Think Hocus Pocus, or Beetlejuice,” In another interview with Deadline, the White Lotus star attested that she, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg are the real Avengers of cinema.
“I’m one of the last people that’s kind of waving that theatrical flag. Me, Martin Scorsese and Spielberg, just the three of us,” asserted Plaza.
She added, “I just believe with all my heart that if you make a movie that’s undeniably great, people will hear about it and want to see it.”

Serving as both the producer and star in The Little Hours (2017), Ingrid Goes West (2017), Black Bear (2020), and Emily the Criminal (2022), the Parks and Recreation actress has various upcoming projects under her belt, aspiring to add more to her accolades.
In November, Plaza was announced as one of the MCU’s newcomers, as she is about to star in the upcoming WandaVision spinoff series, Agatha: Coven of Chaos. There are hints being dropped that Plaza will portray a vital role as a villain opposite Kathryn Hahn, which fans have to look forward to.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos is set to start streaming in the winter of 2023 on Disney+.
