Sawano’s involvement in the ending theme production was revealed via the official anime website. There, he commented on his involvement in the highly anticipated return of Bleach.
Sawano is one of the most acclaimed Japanese composers working in the industry today. Though if you’re unfamiliar, Sawano is the musical composer for various anime, including Attack on Titan, The Seven Deadly Sins, Kill la Kill, and more. Aside from composing scores, Sawano is also a notable producer of anime theme songs. For instance, Sawano was tapped to produce one of the songs by Ado for One Piece Film: Red. His next project is the ending theme for Thousand-Year Blood War, the TV anime adaptation of the Bleach manga’s final arc. This arc covers Volumes 55 to 74 of the manga, and it serves as the true finale of the anime series. The original Bleach anime ran from October 2004 to March 2012 for 366 episodes. Given that the series ended before the manga’s finale, it did not finish with the series’ true ending. Aside from giving the anime a satisfying conclusion, Thousand-Year Blood War also promises to address several plot holes in the series.
Regarding the new Bleach ending theme, Hiroyuki Sawano said that he was “particularly conscious of the groove and sound” during the production. He also shared that the first half is “quiet” while the second half is “moving.” He also commented that SennaRin’s lyrics and vocals impressed him during the song’s production. The show’s ending theme is entitled “Saihate” by SennaRin, a Japanese singer who is known for performing the opening and ending theme songs for The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These Gekitotsu anime film series. Meanwhile, the show’s opening theme is entitled “Scar” and is performed by Tatsuya Kitani. The upcoming Bleach anime series is set to premiere on October 10, 2022, in Japan. Right now, there’s no information yet on where the show will simulcast outside Japan. Read More: How to Watch Bleach: Watch Order and What to Skip
