The Critics Choice Association (CCA) announced today the TV nominations for the upcoming 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards where Andor received two nominations. It is the only live-action Disney+ series this year that was able to make it into the list. Andor is nominated in the Best Drama Series category where it is competing with other TV shows such as Bad Sisters, Better Call Saul, The Crown, Euphoria, The Good Fight, House of the Dragon, Severance, and Yellowstone. Diego Luna was also recognized for his performance as Cassian Andor as he received a nomination in the Best Actor in a Drama Series category. He is competing with other performers such as Jeff Bridges (The Old Man), Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Adam Scott (Severance), and Antony Starr (The Boys).
However, the supporting cast members were shut out as none of them received nominations even someone like Stellan Skarsgard, whose performance as Luthen Rael has been receiving praise from the critics and is considered one of the best in the franchise to date. Nevertheless, it is exciting to hear that the series received nominations from one of the major award-giving bodies and it would be interesting to see if more ceremonies will also shower it with nominations in the coming months, especially the Emmy Awards next year. Production for the second season is currently underway ahead of its planned 2024 release. Ariel Kleiman, Janus Metz, and Alonso Ruizpalacios are helming the episodes. It will also serve as its final season as it will lead up to the events of Rogue One.
